Before I found copywriting, I was as a camera operator and cinematographer. Before that, a trained orchestral percussionist—and yes, I’ve played multiple triangle solos. But what taught me the most was chess.

In 2nd grade I was competing on a national level. Bobby Fischer was my idol. 1972, against the Russian World Champion Borris Spassky, Fischer shocked the world by opening with C4. The Queen’s Gambit. Everyone expected the safe opening, E4. But that day he took a dangerous risk to outwit and outmaneuver his opponent. He then became the World Champion.

That’s how I approach writing. I embrace discomfort. The move that isn’t safe. Something that starts a conversation. If you want a copywriter that plays E4 every time, I may not be for you. But if you want to do something exciting, let’s talk.

ran out of lunch tables on set. here’s how team player I am.
